Privacy notice

Who is responsible
Dale Collins, trading as Dale Handyman & Electrical in Plymouth, is the controller of customer information used for enquiries and bookings. Contact dale.collins1@outlook.com or call 07394 448676 about your information.
Information we use
When you request a quote we collect your name, telephone number, email, visit address, preferred time and job description. Please do not include sensitive personal information, passwords or payment card details. Information is required to arrange the visit; you can contact Dale by phone instead.
Our hosting services also process technical information such as IP addresses, request information and security logs. The booking service uses a daily hashed IP identifier to limit spam submissions. Hashing does not make this information anonymous.
Why we use it
We use enquiry and appointment details to respond to your request and take steps towards providing a service at your request (contractual necessity). We use necessary technical data to protect the site from misuse (legitimate interests). Records needed for tax or other legal requirements are processed to meet those obligations. Quote requests are not added to a marketing mailing list. The site does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Calendar and email
Only Dale connects a Google account. The site reads events in his connected calendar to calculate availability and creates, updates or removes quote-visit events. Customers see available times, not Dale’s event details. Your booking details are stored privately on the site, included in Dale’s calendar entry and sent to him by email. A request is awaiting approval until Dale accepts it. When Dale approves or declines, the site emails the customer the decision and any personal message Dale adds.
Service providers and other countries
Services involved include OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for hosting, storage and access controls; Google Calendar for availability and appointments; Resend for sending notifications; and Microsoft for Dale’s email inbox. WhatsApp receives the enquiry when you choose to send it there. Estimates and invoices are managed separately in Intuit QuickBooks; this site does not connect to QuickBooks or collect payments.
These providers may process data outside the UK. Their locations, contractual protections and international-transfer arrangements differ. Contact Dale for information about the arrangements relevant to your data. Their own privacy notices also explain how they handle account and service information.
How long information is kept
Enquiry records are kept while needed to arrange a visit, respond to follow-up questions or resolve a complaint. Job records may need to be kept longer for the workmanship guarantee, legal claims or tax obligations. Retention depends on whether work proceeds and whether an obligation or dispute remains. Old site requests can be deleted by Dale; deleting a site request does not automatically delete past Google Calendar entries, email messages or accounting records. Those copies must be reviewed separately. Security counters and connection-state records are used for short-lived security checks; expired records may remain in storage until cleared.
Photos
The before-and-after gallery is visible to people with access to the website and will be public when the site is made public. Do not submit photos containing people or personal details unless needed for the enquiry. Identifiable customer photos should only be published with the customer’s separate permission, which can be withdrawn by contacting Dale. Sending an enquiry does not give permission to publish photos.
Visitor statistics
We collect first-party website usage statistics to understand which pages are useful and where interest in our services comes from. Records contain the public page path, date, approximate country, broad device category and referring website hostname. Full referring URLs, search queries, names and booking details are not included. The server temporarily uses the connection IP address to make a secret-keyed identifier that changes each day; raw IP addresses and full browser user-agent strings are not saved in analytics records. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not anonymous. Shared connections, VPNs, changing networks and bot filtering mean the figures are estimates.
These statistics are used for our legitimate interests in understanding and improving our website. The feature adds no analytics cookies or cross-day tracking identifiers and does not send analytics to an additional third-party analytics service. Hosting providers still process requests as described above. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control requests are respected. Signed-in owner visits and recognisable bots are excluded. The owner dashboard shows up to 90 days and clears older event records when it is opened; records can remain until that cleanup runs. Contact Dale to ask about this processing or to object. The owner dashboard may save a browser exclusion preference in local storage.
Cookies and links
The site’s own code does not add advertising cookies or marketing pixels. First-party visitor statistics are described above. Hosting and sign-in services may use cookies or similar technologies for access and security under their own notices. External links to Google, WhatsApp and other services have their own privacy and cookie practices. The site does not embed a public Google Calendar.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Consent for identifiable gallery photos can be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful use. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations. Contact Dale using the details above; identity checks may be needed to protect your information. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
